Reducing Obesity is the Priority of Department of Health
The Threat of Obesity is greater than ever for US children and adolescents. This is the challenge that Department of Health need to solve, if it let it continue than the current generation of children will grow into the most obese generation of adults in US history. The priorities of the Department of Health and the HSE in relation to addressing overweight and obesity range from broad policy interventions to more targeted actions.
So people need to continued awareness program about the dangers of excessive consumption of foods high in fat, sugar and salt and of the benefits of regular exercise. That is why, one of the Department of Health‘s main priorities for this year in relation to obesity is the public health policy review it is currently undertaking.
The policy review will cover health protection, health equalities and health promotion, including the lifestyle behaviors which give rise to obesity awareness of the positive impact that healthy lifestyle can have and to identify measures that could be put in place to make it easier for people to adopt healthy lifestyles.
Despite the recognition of the severe health and psychosocial damage done by childhood obesity, it remains low on the public agenda of important issues facing policy makers. However action must be taken now to stem the epidemic of childhood obesity.
Department of Health will provide clear, consistent messages on why people should change their lifestyle, how to do so and put in place ways to make this easier. They will also work in partnership with local government, charities and business to reduce obesity.
